Preliminary Sketches
2009-01-11
All artists usually make preliminary sketches. It’s similar to the recipe that a cook uses to create a fine culinary experience. As an example: the preliminary sketches from Leonardo Da Vinci shown below:
While my preliminary sketches cannot “hold a candle ” to Da Vinci’s; the process is still the same - check it out first before painting. This particular sketch that is shown below, will be the basis for a number of paintings: in those paintings I will use the 9 shapes in differing arrangements, concentrating on design strategeries, color, and the negative shapes created by the positive shapes of the trees, the mountains, building and shadows.
Other sketches will be done, as the darks and lights must lead the eye through the painting.
