Plastic wrap in water color paintings.

Plastic wrap can be used in developing texture in WaterColor. However it is possible to overdo this just as it is possible to over do any good technique. This technique is accomplished by first putting down either a light wash or a heavily pigmented wash depending on what you are planning for the future of this painting.

Fig. 1 shows the textured background used with this technique. Even though this is a WaterColor technique other media can be used such as: inks and liquid acrylics. In addition to using plastic wrap one may also use aluminum foil, wax paper, or other papers that will give the same effect.

In addition to texturing that background it is possible to create shapes to such as rocks walls and trees with this technique. Further once having established a background one can then use negative painting to produce some very striking results.
